Damn it’s been ages since I posted anything to this stupid blog. Whole lot of jack shit has happened in nearly a year since I last wrote anything. Still stuck working at Cablevision and am completely miserable for it. I really need to find a new job that doesn’t suck.
Got in a p. big accident in December, totaled out my Alero. Bought a 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL. It’s really nice, but not particularly fun to drive. Boring mid-size sedan. Oh goody. Here have some pictures of the accident:
Oh well, 5 years from now it’ll be all paid off and I’m currently saving up for the next one at a rate of $5000/year. So I’ll be ready to buy a more fun car basically as soon as I’ve paid off the Altima. Who knows what though, 5 years is quite a long time in the auto world. If I were buying it right now I’d have to seriously consider the 2011 Mustang GT. Not generally a fan of Mustangs but the reviews of the 2011 GT are pretty awesome, and it’s several hundred pounds lighter than the new Camaro, which is definitely a mark in the plus column even though the official 412 bhp rating is a bit lower than the Camaro. Reviews are suggesting the 5.0L in the Mustang is pretty significantly underrated power wise, and is making closer to 430-440.
Bought myself a Canon Digital Rebel T2i after my old Canon PowerShot A80 started taking photos that look like this:
The T2i is pretty cool. I also bought a EF 50mm f/1.8 to go with it so I’d have something faster than the kit lens. Since I got it though I haven’t put the kit lens back on. So much nicer than the kit EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. Really making me want to get the highly regarded Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. Another option could be the recently announced Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 OS HSM. I just wish there was any indication at all as to when the Sigma would be available. If I had infinite money, I’d get the Canon 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM. Maybe eventually I’ll get it and sell the Tamron or Sigma, whichever I end up getting. I also really want the Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. First though is definitely one of the 17-50s. Then it’ll either be the 10-22 or a 70-200mm f/4L USM. Definitely be good to get something with a bit more reach than 50mm.
Of course it would be a good idea and actually go outside and take some pictures too. I have like 200 pictures of my walls, lamps, and various shit around my room so far. I’ve been reading some photography books to get an idea of the actual theory of composition and that sort of thing because I really would like to take some nice pictures.
Plus Toni is in Japan studying abroad for a year and I’m going to go spend a little under 2 weeks visiting her there in the fall!! That’s another big reason I went with a DSLR over another P&S camera. Though apparently through Canon I can get a new P&S for like $100 which really wouldn’t be bad to have available for times when the big ass DSLR isn’t appropriate. Maybe closer to the trip maybe.
Been trying to catch up on some games lately. Played through Lost Odyssey on my 360, beat Uncharted 2, am almost done with GTAIV, am closing in on the end of the story in FFXIII. After I beat the main story line though I want to do all the hunts and maybe max out my characters in all 6 roles, so FFXIII definitely has a bunch more life left in it. Once I finish off FFXIII I intend to beat GTAIV finally, and then move on to GOW. That’s God Of War not Gears Of War, though Gears Of War may come next after God Of War. I have the Collection for PS3 and I’ve got GOWIII. Also played the shit out of Forza Motorsport 3. The Fanatec wheel for the 360 is absolutely fantastic. I just added the Club Sport pedals to it and it’s even more amazing now, though the pressure sensitive brake pedal is definitely taking some getting used to.
I really wish I had an idea for some kind of programming project to do. I haven’t written any code in way way too long, I just have no ideas for a good project to do. I’d love to do some iPhone/iPad development, but developing on my MacBook is no good, need a keyboard and mouse and proper monitor, and hooking up to the KVM is not a very good solution. I really would like an iMac, but that’s not happening anytime soon. Definitely no where to put something like that, my room is way too goddamned crowded as it is. I’d keep thinking like a new MacBook, but it seems silly since I never actually use my current MacBook anymore. Of course the fact that the battery is so fucked it only lasts about 10 minutes before dying is an obvious turn off to using it in a mobile fashion and if I’m sitting in my room tethered to a power outlet why wouldn’t I use the far more powerful desktop with it’s beautiful 24″ monitor? Maybe I should just buy a new battery for the MacBook I have now and call it a day. We’ll see what Nehalem based Macs bring though. Supposedly they’re launching as soon as Tuesday, so I shouldn’t have to wait long.
Maybe my next post won’t take 9+ months lol
